Renting a walk-in cooler or freezer from Polar Leasing is a streamlined and hassle-free experience. Whether you’re new to the process or a returning customer, understanding what to expect can make your rental period smooth and efficient. This blog post will provide an overview of the Polar Leasing rental process, including unit delivery, electrical requirements, operational procedures, and unit pick-up.
Why Choose Polar Leasing?
Polar Leasing has been a trusted provider of walk-in cooler and freezer rentals across the United States and Canada. With the largest electric refrigerated fleet in North America, we offer thousands of rental units through our extensive network of distribution depots. Our units are available for both short- and long-term rentals, perfect for seasonal demands, grand openings, emergency situations, and other temporary storage needs.
Our ground-resting, walk-in units come in 8′ x 10′ and 8′ x 20′ models, designed with patented seamless fiberglass construction for durability and efficiency, even in fluctuating outdoor conditions. When you rent from Polar Leasing, you’re guaranteed a unit that is NSF certified, and requires no on-site assembly or noisy diesel generators.
Delivery Made Easy
Once your rental agreement is finalized, we’ll schedule your unit for delivery. A certified Polar Leasing driver will deliver your unit on the pre-arranged date and time, placing it in your desired location. However, there are a few things to keep in mind before your unit arrives:
- Placement: The unit must be placed on a flat, level surface to ensure proper drainage and performance.
- Ventilation: Maintain a 3-foot clearance around the condensing unit for adequate air ventilation, and ensure it’s at least 6 feet away from any building exhaust fans.
- Electrical Access: Make sure you have a 30-amp, 208-230 volt, single-phase electrical connection available near the unit.
Electrical Requirements
Connecting your Polar Leasing unit to power is straightforward but should be performed by a certified electrician. The unit requires a 30-amp, 208-230 volt, single-phase connection, which should be wired directly to the disconnect box located at the rear of the unit. The electrician will connect the necessary leads and ensure everything is set up according to NEC or local electrical codes.
For those who prefer or need to use a generator, a 12,000-watt generator is required for a 20-foot unit, while an 8,500-watt generator is sufficient for a 10-foot unit. Please note that Polar Leasing does not provide generators.
Operational Guidelines
Once your unit is powered on, allow at least one hour for it to reach the desired internal temperature. During this time, keep the door closed and monitor the exterior thermometer to ensure the temperature stabilizes. The recommended internal temperatures are 34° to 37° for coolers and 0° to -10° for freezers.
If you need to adjust the temperature, the unit is equipped with an interior temperature adjustment dial. For those using the A421 control, detailed video instructions are available to guide you through setting the ON and OFF temperatures.
Interior Features
Polar Leasing walk-in units are designed with user convenience in mind. Inside, you’ll find bright lighting, a non-slip NSF-approved flooring system, a plunger release handle, an emergency release handle, and a HASP lock for security.
Preparing for Pick-Up
When your rental period ends, the pick-up process is just as simple as delivery. Before our team arrives to collect the unit, make sure to:
- Remove all products from inside the unit.
- Disconnect the electricity.
- Clean the interior (avoid using bleach or ammonia).
- Inspect the unit for any damages.
Once these steps are completed, your unit will be ready for pick-up.
Why Polar Leasing Stands Out
When comparing Polar Leasing to refrigerated trailers, trucks, or shipping containers, our units offer significant advantages in terms of cost, convenience, and performance. For example, a week-long rental of a refrigerated trailer or truck could cost over $2,000 due to fuel and operating expenses. Polar Leasing units, on the other hand, offer a more cost-effective and efficient solution with no hidden running meter or fuel costs.
Additionally, our units are designed to minimize temperature fluctuations and prevent dirt accumulation, providing a cleaner and more stable environment for your storage needs.
